Support Material

  • 2007 NetSafe Kit for Schools: The 2007 Netsafe Kit for Schools streamlines the process of establishing and maintaining a cybersafe school community and includes new up-to-date, user-friendly use agreements and policy templates.
  • NetSafe's Training Modules for Schools: Training for teachers, senior management, board members and other school personnel can be delivered in your area. Contact training@netsafe.org.nz for more information.
  • Pamphlets and Posters: NetSafe has a range of pamphlets and posters, most of which can be ordered free of charge (postage may apply).
  • Cybersafety Research: NetSafe conducts cybersafety research into how people and organisations are using technology, and how we manage the inherent risks.
  • Hector’s World TM introduces children to the concept of cybersafety using engaging animations and other resources. Free lesson plans are available for teachers to use alongside the animated episodes.
  • The Hector Safety Button TM can be downloaded and installed on Windows based computers (and Apple from June 2007). The animated button covers the screen with a friendly picture and message when clicked. This both hides upsetting content, and encourages children to be responsible and seek help from an adult if something distressing occurs while they are online. The button can be downloaded by searching for ‘Hector Protector’ at www.microsoft.com/downloads.
