points to trim video in this environment. WARNING: This may well work if YouTube is blocked at school. You may also need to consider if using SafeShare is a breach of those rules. On all issues of copyright and digital safety - it is always best to refer to school-wide policy on these matters.

Wow, L@S was a big hit again this year. Great atmosphere and quality educators talking about innovative practices in education. Thank you everyone. A special congratulations also needs to go the CORE team who hosted this event.
The blog contains a variety of examples of how classroom teachers have incorporated aspects of ICT throughout learning tasks. You may get some new ideas on how to use some web 2.0 tools in authentic learning sequences.
Thank you Paula for sharing.
Administration
The 2010ICT PD Cluster Administration Handbook can be downloaded as either a word document or PDF file. It can also be viewed online in Youblisher format @ http://centre4.core-ed.net/382/61805. Please
circulate this amongst your lead cluster personnel, as there is
important information pertaining to the ICT PD cluster programme for this year.
"Not on the Test" song by Tom Chaplin 2008. Tom had wanted to write a
satirical song to help remind us of those things most important to
teaching and learning. This is in response to recent developments in
some American education. Something worth considering.

The Horizon Report 2010
The annual Horizon Report describes the continuing work of the New Media Consortium’s Horizon Project, a qualitative research project established in 2002 that identifies and describes emerging technologies likely to have a large impact on teaching, learning, or creative inquiry on college and university campuses within the next five years. The 2010 Horizon Report is the seventh in the series and is produced as part of an ongoing collaboration between the New Media Consortium (NMC) and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI), an EDUCAUSE program.
In each edition of the Horizon Report, six emerging technologies or practices are described that are likely to enter mainstream use on campuses within three adoption horizons spread over the next one to five years. Each report also presents critical trends and challenges that will affect teaching and learning over the same time frame. In the seven years that the Horizon Project has been underway, more than 400 leaders in the fields of business, industry, technology, and education have contributed to this long-running primary research. National Standards From the 9th - 11th February, the NSSF team attended the National Standards training for trainers hui in Auckland. The Minister of Education, Anne Tolley opened this event with a rousing speech highlighting the need for change in 2010 where, "...every single child in New Zealand
will have the chance to reach their full potential." This is to be achieved through National
Standards in reading, writing and maths.
The Minister went on to say, "Skills in literacy and numeracy are
the foundation for learning. If you can't read, write, and
do maths, then you'll struggle in other subjects. Too many
of our students are not getting these basic skills."
The implications for all schools are huge and this of course impacts on the ICT PD contract and the national goals - at the heart of the project. Further discussions will be explored in relation to the National Standards and the on-going development within ICT PD contract schools. If you would like to add any ideas, debate an issue, then please feel free to do so in the comments box below.
