Te Apiti ICT Cluster Ending
Following several months of discussion and review, the Management Committee has decided to end any formal cluster arrangement, as bound by our current ICTPD Contract with the Ministry of Education, at the completion of the 2011 year.

This decision isn't one we make lightly.  Collectively, Principals have made the decision based primarily on the following:
  • Schools felt they could not continue to have ICT professional development as their first priority for another year;
  • Schools have made significant advances, are self sustaining and have other pressing or emerging strategic needs;
  • The education sector framework/landscape we are working within has changed, requiring strengthening around such important issues as formative practice/assessment.
Please be assured that the Management Team have, over the period of the last four months, explored a number of options, in good faith together. We have already signaled to the Ministry of Education our intention and will be in due course completing end of contract obligations.

We still have some work to complete and if the current eshare collaboration is anything to go by, it will be exciting, useful professional learning.  It may be that some of this continues into 2012 regardless of the end of the formal contract.

It is a requirement of the contract that we complete all milestone obligations including surveys about to be undertaken.  We are hopeful that this information, while critical to our milestone reporting, will also be of significant use to schools, Boards of Trustees and indeed individual teachers in planning next steps.  Thank you in advance for carrying this out in the usual robust way.

Schools collectively have enjoyed the collaboration and the opportunity that 'Te Apiti' has brought.

Best wishes to you all.

Regards
